What is U Bolt?

A U-bolt is a bolt in the shape of the letter U with screw threads on both ends. It is a very versatile fastening system that provides a method for attaching pipes, tubing, conduit, or other cylindrical objects to a flat surface or to other round surfaces.

The two threaded arms of the U-bolt are meant to wrap around and support the pipe or conduit, and are intended to be passed through pre-drilled or pre-punched holes in a mounting surface. Once the U-bolt is in place, it can be secured using nuts that are tightened onto the threaded ends.

U-bolts are used across various fields such as plumbing, electrical, construction, and industrial applications. They are particularly useful for suspending piping, ductwork, and other equipment within a facility or vehicle. Moreover, the design of U-bolts allows for quick and straightforward installation, and they can be easily adjusted or removed for maintenance.

Their size can vary greatly, designed to hold tiny wires up to large industrial pipes. The materials used for U-bolts also vary based on the application, with some common materials being carbon steel, stainless steel, or galvanized steel to prevent corrosion. U-bolts often come with plates that provide a more secure fix and help distribute the load evenly.
