Description

Tab washers are a specific type of washer that has one or several tabs on their sides. These tabs can be formed to fit into a slot or against a surface to prevent rotation, which makes them excellent locking devices.

There are two general types of tab washers: internal and external. Internal tab washers have tabs that extend inward, and are used to lock a nut or bolt onto a shaft with a groove. External tab washers have tabs that extend outward, and are used to lock a nut or bolt onto a component with a slot.

One commonly used type of tab washer is the “lock washer” or “washer lock,” which has a tab or tabs that are folded over a fastener or into a slot after the fastener is tightened. This gives it a secure connection that helps to prevent loosening or vibrational loosening of the fastener during use.

Tab washers are versatile and are used in a variety of industrial and consumer applications such as electrical motors, fastening systems, automotive parts, and electrical connections. They come in different sizes, shapes, and materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, brass, and more, to suit specific application requirements.
