What is Claw Nut?

Claw nuts, often referred to as T-nuts or pronged tee blind nuts, are a type of fastener that is commonly used to provide a threaded socket in wood and other materials that are too soft to hold a thread. These nuts have a flanged base with four prongs or claws that sink into the material, providing strong resistance to torque and pull-out.

To install these nuts, they are typically inserted into a pre-drilled hole and then hammered in so that the claws press into the material, securing the nut in place. Claw nuts are widely used in furniture making, woodworking, as well as for climbing holds in rock climbing walls. Their design allows for a strong and stable internal thread which is ideal for attaching components to wooden structures.
