  What is Huck Bolt?

A Huck bolt, also known as a HuckBolt, is a brand name for a specialized, high-strength fastener system designed for permanent installation. The Huck bolt system consists of two parts:

  • Bolt (Pin): A grooved metal pin that is inserted into a pre-drilled hole, the diameter of which should be matched to the pin.
  • Collar (Swage Collar): A metal collar that is swaged or deformed onto the grooves of the pin, using a special installation tool.

The installation process involves placing the pin into the hole and then using a Huck installation tool to pull on the pin while swaging the collar onto its grooves. The tool deforms the collar onto the pin, providing a vibration-resistant and tamper-proof joint.

This type of bolt is known for its permanent and tamper-proof qualities, making it ideal for applications where maintenance is difficult or where a very secure fastening is needed. It is commonly used in the automotive, aerospace, and construction industries, among others.

Different types of Huck bolts are designed to address various application needs and materials. They are known for their durability, resistance to vibration, and ease of installation without the need for special skill or torque requirements. Huck bolts are typically used in place of conventional nuts and bolts or welds, where the connection needs to be secure and maintenance-free.
